Why what? Why do I have a digital garden? Why do I write in public?

Why the digital garden in contrast to social media? Why write in a way that the whole world can see it?

These questions are separable, but not separate, so I’ll try to answer them in one go.

I choose to share my thoughts in this form because it is the closest to the medium I exist in.

Writing is a fundamental part of my life; it’s how I communicate complex ideas, how I share knowledge, and how I collaborate, professionally and personally.

My digital garden is a place to wander, to think and reflect, to engage with my own thoughts and ideas. It’s a place for me to think out loud and to learn, in public.

I want to share my thoughts in a way that is open, transparent, and accessible. I want to share my thoughts in a way that is not controlled by algorithms, that is not driven by engagement metrics, and that is not limited by character counts.

I want to share my thoughts in a way that is permanent, that is not lost in the noise of the internet.
